Child Support & Child Custody
Pensacola Child Support and Custody LawyerIssues involving children can be difficult, whether the parents are going through a divorce or never have been married. Child support and parenting plans must be handled as efficiently as possible to minimize the impact to the children. Also, it is important to keep the best interests of the children in mind while moving forward with these issues. Having represented clients in family law matters for over 28 years, I am sensitive to the needs of families and children concerning their parenting plan and child support issues. I take a hands-on approach to my clients' cases, tailoring my representation to meet their individual cases and needs. I take the time to explain all of your options and the applicable law for your situation, ensuring the decisions you make are well informed. Helping Pensacola Families for Over Twenty-Five Years Child Support The amount of child support awarded is set by Florida state statutes. These statutes take into consideration a variety of factors, including income of both parents, the number of children, parenting plans, health care costs and day care costs. The numbers assigned to these factors are then entered into a formula that calculates the amount of child support that is to be paid. I also handle cases where modification or enforcement child support is necessary. A modification to the amount of child support can be due to a change in circumstances of one parent, such as the loss of a job. Parenting Plans (formerly Child Custody) In 2008, Florida law changed, and as a result of that change, parenting plans have replaced the issues of custody and which parent will be the primary residential parent. The emphasis is on creation of a parenting plan which includes time-sharing schedules for parents and children. Parenting plans govern the interaction between parents and children and between the parents. Parenting plans are complex documents. I can explain the requirements of a parenting plan and how the parenting plan will affect you. We also handle the modification and enforcement of parenting plans, along with relocation matters when a parent wishes to move with a child. Visitation Time-sharing schedules have replaced visitation so it is important that you understand the new law governing time-sharing and the trend to ensure that both parents have as much time as possible with their children.
